Lunar Month Look-ahead for May-June, 2020

Here is my monthly lunar forecast for May-June of 2020. This spread is designed around astrologer Dane Rudhyar’s eight-phase “lunation cycle,” during which each sub-phase lasts approximately 3.5 days. I used the Moon Phase Calendar website to easily identify the approximate dates of the phase changes. I always use reversals with this spread. The deck is the RWS Centennial pocket edition.

This series of cards seems to be displaying the ongoing saga of the COVID-19 response scenario. The 9 of Pentacles reversed shows the hesitant relaxation of the “stay-at-home” edict (which was never strictly enforced on individuals in New Hampshire); that is now in the past as of today and accurately reflects what transpired during the New Moon phase (“emerging from the darkness”).

The 9 of Swords reversed suggests the misgivings and the lingering anxiety associated with venturing out into the world again, while the 8 of Swords obviously portrays the constraints that will have to be observed in the immediate future.

Things begin to turn around with the King of Cups, but the caution is not to be too lackadaisically casual about it. Still, the Ace of Cups gives the impression of a full emotional recovery from the challenges posed by the two Swords as transitional cards.

The 7 of Cups conveys the idea that some residual uncertainty remains to be “flushed.” Not everyone out in the world is “playing by the rules,” which might sour the hopeful outlook of the Ace of Cups.

The two reversed Pages at the end of the month could mean that the “brave new world” envisioned by the “new normal” of daily life gets off to a limping start. Both mundane affairs (Pentacles) and new initiatives (Wands) are slow to respond to the call. There may be some backsliding as a consequence of the doubt imparted by the 7 of Cups.

All-in-all, it looks like an up-and-down month for the restoration of our personal liberties and freedom of movement.
