Game of Thrones: Who Makes It To The End?

Here is the reading I promised yesterday. The goal was to see which of the remaining Game of Thrones characters that amount to anything are still standing (and still human) at the end of the season. First I shuffled and dealt the ten tarot significator cards into a line (try shuffling ten cards sometime, it ain’t easy). Then I shuffled the Lenormand deck and laid ten cards under the tarot cards to show the likelihood of survival. I used Andy Boroveshengra’s positive/neutral/negative qualities to reflect favorable (“Yes”), mixed (“Maybe”) or unfavorable (“No”) verdicts. The decks are the Albano-Waite Tarot and Pixie’s Astounding Lenormand, two decks connected to Pamela Colman Smith. I didn’t use reversals.

Arya Stark (Knight of Swords) received the Fish, a highly positive card. It looks like “Yes.” I certainly hope so.

Sansa Stark (Queen of Pentacles) got the Mountain, a negative card that suggests an uphill battle. Probably not.

Varys (King of Cups) landed the Fox, another negative card. But Varys is the “King of Foxes” so he may cleverly weasel out of his fate.

Tyrion Lannister (Knight of Pentacles) came up with the Child, a positive-neutral card. Possibly a “Yes,” but maybe he gets “born again” as a White Walker? Yikes, I hope not. He would be one ferocious ankle-biter! (Apologies to all those short of stature.)

Sandor Clegane (Knight of Wands) received the Storks, another positive-neutral card. Perhaps he will complete his change into “Mr. Nice Guy Guy” and make it across the Narrow Sea. (White Walkers can’t swim, and I don’t suppose they can sail ships either, even if they manage to snare Euron Greyjoy.) But he has to take out his brother first; it just might cure him of his fear of fire.

Jaime Lannister (Knight of Cups) got the Bouquet, definitely a positive card, so it looks like a “Yes.” The nicest gift I can think of would be for him to be rid of Cersei (or maybe he will be turned into a zombie and eat her, which would be even sweeter!) But how about a little zombie sex first, since she was so repelled by his missing hand.

Brandon Stark (Page of Cups) came up with the Whip, a wholly negative card. I’m thinking the Night King may finally gather him in, so probably not.

Cersei Lannister (Queen of Swords) drew the Lady, an uncategorized card. If she survives unchanged, she will have met her match in Daenerys Targaryen. I see this as a “maybe” for survival, much as we love to hate her. I would propose that she get eaten alive, one small bite at a time, but filming has already wrapped.

Jon Snow (King of Swords) had the Stars, an entirely positive card. He will probably achieve his destiny as the son of Raegar Targaryen and rightful heir to the Seven Kingdoms. So “Yes,” I think so.

Daenerys Targaryen pulled the Gentleman, another uncategorized card. I think Jon Snow will defer to his aunt (or is it cousin? I’ve never been entirely sure) for the Iron Throne since she is much more imperial than he is. With his undying (no pun intended) support, it looks like a “Yes” to me.

  1. I’ll be eagerly watching to see how this turns out. I recently bought the Game of Thrones Tarot. Maybe I’ll do a spread on the show with the deck based upon it. Or you could. ;P
