As an old-school face-to-face tarot reader, I’m quite leery of the validity of conducting readings over the internet. I finally worked my way around to something I can live with, which is having my remote clients pull their own cards and tell me the order of the draw so I can perform the reading. I even decided (gasp!) that pulling the cards using a tarot app is acceptable, since it’s the intent and not the mechanics that matter. But I stop short of drawing the cards myself for someone else’s reading, and always will; it’s not the way I think tarot “works,” period.
A while back, during heated on-line disagreements over the validity of remote reading, I penned the attached rant. I’ve moved past the hard-line absolutism, but the pointed writing still stirs my blood.
